Jake Lafrenz is a 2015 LHP/1B with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Elgin, IL who attends St Edward Central Catholic. Medium frame with a strong, mature build. Left handed pitcher who works from a three quarter arm slot. Uses a quick arm with a clean release to generate a heavy fastball that topped at 86 mph. Commands fastball well in the zone and show arm side run on the pitch. Strong feel for a potential plus changeup that shows fading life. Slider topped at 76 mph with late breaking action and has a curveball with depth and shows 1/7 shape. Has the ability to keep all four pitches low in the zone. Left handed batter who makes pull side contact with strength and shows some bat speed. Good student.
