2007 California Underclass Showcase
Mitch Foster is a 2008 C/1B with a 5'11'', 190 lb. frame from Orem UT, who attends Timpanogos HS. He has a strong, compact, somewhat physical build. Foster showed well with the bat, which is clearly a positive attribute for a young catcher. He starts with a square stance and showed a quick bat and a short stroke. His swing plane is very good. Foster displayed good timing and lets the ball travel. He made hard gap to gap contact, with some carry and has some power potential. Behind the plate Foster has quiet actions and sits in the crouch well. He worked hard behind the plate and blocked balls in the dirt pretty well. His arm is below average but he made accurate throws. His lowest workout pop-time was 2.21 and that will have to improve, as will his receiving.
