Ryan Duyck is a 2008 shortstop/right handed pitcher from Davenport, Iowa, with a 5'11", 165 lb. frame. Duyck has good bat speed with good hitting actions. He was balanced at the plate with a line drive swing plane. He is a solid hitter with projectable power. He was sometimes late recognizing curveballs, but that will improve with repetitions. Defensively he has good arm speed with a short arm arch on the backside. Duyck lets the ball get too deep at times making it hard to make the adjustment on bad hops. He pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a slinging action and solid arm speed. He threw a tailing fastball that topped out at 73 mph, and also dropped down at times with his fastball to give the hitters a different look. Duyck also throws a 10 to 4 curveball at 59 mph. He gets outs with deception and changing arm angles. Duyck is a project able hitter that should be followed.
