2013 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Keith Wallach is a 2014 C with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from Santa Rosa, CA who attends Maria Carrillo HS. Compact frame, thin athletic build with room to fill, a lot of physical projection remaining. Showed surprising power for his size, doubles power could potentially develop. Hits from an open stance with a leg kick timing mechanism, pull approach, aggressive swing. Showed good all around energy and hustle, got the most out of his tools. Quick actions behind the plate, strong arm with some further projection, receives well, quick release on in-game throws. Solid defensive ability at 3B as well, quick actions, attacks the baseball, arm strength will need to develop to play third base at the next level but projection may allow for it and 2B could be another option as secondary position when not catching.
