Charles "CJ" Apel is a 2013 RHP/1B with a 6-7 218 lb. frame from Las Vegas, NV who attends Shadowridge. Apel has an extra large fram with a tall projectable build. He pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot with a long arm action. Apel gets his hips loaded well at balance point and has some deception to his delivery. His frontside opens early and he doesn't get much from his lower half. He gets good extension out front and throws an 11/5 curveball with good spin. Apel has developing actions defensively with developing arm strength. He starts with a wide base at the plate with a knee lift trigger. He has some bat speed and gets leverage in his swing. He showed some pop and made solid contact in game. Bat projects best. Very good student.
