2003 Sunshine West Showcase
Urso is a speedy 04 grad who showed a solid bat in both BP and in the games. At 5 foot 8 and 155 he doesn't profile as a power guy, but he can get the job done with a good short and quick swing, handling wood nicely for his size. He ran a 6.65 in the 60 and threw 77 mph from the outfield. His swing produced line drives and at times the ball came off his bat hard, reaching the gap quickly. He gave us the impression he uses his speed and offensive mentality to create opportuinities at the plate and on the bases. We saw him on occasion with a slight upper-cut, getting the ball in the air trying to drive the ball far. With wood he should benefit most by making line drive contact using the swing we saw in BP and allowing his speed to come into play more often. One thing we noticed is that he does make contact and has a good eye. As he gets stronger we think he has a chance to compete in a good College program. Excellent student.
