JD O'Donnell is a 2012 RHP/3B with a 6-3 188 lb. frame from Buffalo, MN who attends Buffalo HS. Tall slender build, room to get stronger. Simple turn and throw mechanics, stays on line well, compact release point with low elbow on release, works quickly. Upper 70's fastball topped at 79 mph, mostly straight. Throws both curveball and slider, curveball is big and soft with some deception, short slider shape more like cutter, rare change up. Throws all pitches for strikes and tries to work ahead. Switch-hitter, best swings from the right side, upper cut swing plane, aggressive approach, drives pitches on the inner half, tends to reach on outside half and off speed. Good student.
