Birdwell is a big strong 6'3-225 primary pitcher who also plays first base. At first base he has good actions with some arm strength across the diamond. Birdwell has a smooth swing and makes solid contact to the middle of the field. He projects to hit with power. He pitched despite having an injury that limited his velocity. He does have a power pitchers build.
