2003 Spring Showcase
Standish is a young looking sophomore with a nice arm action that comes from a low 3/4 arm slot. He is already 6 foot 1 and just 170 pounds indicating there is a lot more to come. He has a near perfect pitchers build and was showing an effortless 76-77 mph fastball with excellent life on every pitch. It is the type of pitch that becomes unhittable as this sophomore becomes stronger and throws it a little harder. He also showed pitchability with 2 other pitches that included a 60 mph curveball and a 67 mph change-up. He showed a good feel for the curve/slurve but might benefit from throwing it harder. He mixed speeds and looked composed on the hill overall. There is a lot of upside and he is a pitcher that we need to keep close tabs on.
