Owens is a catcher from Washington with a nice looking swing that suits him well. He has a short and compact swing that goes straight to the ball and lacks the Major League bat-speed that might be coming soon. He showed that he can handle good pitching with this swing and had stayed inside the ball well and hit the ball to all parts of the field. Defensively he had adequate numbers that will be as effective as the baserunners he is up against. A 2.12 pop time from a pitcher with a good slide step will work and Owens can get the ball there in that time, just without major arm strength. He runs well for a catcher and handled new pitchers without losing a stride. Good student.
