2007 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Christopher Madero is a 2009 OF C/IF with a 5'7'', 123 lb. frame from Barstow, CA who attends Barstow HS. He has a small frame and a wiry build. Madero is fun to watch play. He plays with energy, always runs hard (a rarity at showcases and in general these days), and maximizes his ability. Pound for pound he is as talented as many higher rated prospects his age, but he is going to have to get bigger and stronger to be afforded the same college opportunities. Madero has a short contact stroke and is a good fundamental hitter with a nice approach. He makes good contact on a consistent basis. Defensively he showed a quick release from the outfield and a quick arm. For his size he has a strong arm (77 mph) so it stands to reason that if he does start to develop more physically, his arm will get stronger. All Madero is lacking is size. He is a good ballplayer.
