Michael Kupfer is a 2009 RHP/3B with a 6'2'', 215 lb. frame from Rancho Santa Fe, CA who attends Torrey Pines HS. He has a large frame and a strong, thick body type. For his body type Kupfer has a surprisingly loose and quick arm that works comfortably from a 3/4 slot. There is some effort in that arm stroke but his arm does work. Kupfer has some mound presence and he exudes confidence with the ball in his hand. His fastball has some sink action and flirted with the mid-80s. There is enough arm speed and there should be enough power in his body to reach the upper-80s at some point in the future. Kupfer has a nice three pitch mix that will give him a chance to be a starting pitcher at the college level, though his aggressive nature would seem to fit the late innings too. He showed feel of a mid-70s changeup and a slurvy breaking ball that ranged from 66-72 mph.
