2007 California Underclass Showcase
Michael Allen is a 2008 C/OF with a 6'1'', 185 lb. frame from Mission Viejo, CA who attends Tesoro. He has a nice, strong athletic build with more room to fill out. Allen has good catching fundamentals behind the plate, with quiet actions and good shifting ability. His arm strength is good and his throws were accurate. Allen's best pop time was 2.08; his release could get quicker and shorter but he'll throw out runners with his consistency and accuracy. Offensively. Allen hits from a high hand set up with a hitch load. He uses his strength to create some nice bat speed and has a whippy swing that generate some power and lift. He has some things to smooth out but he has hitting tools. Allen has a nice overall package that should continue to improve with work and coaching.
