Blaine Jones is a 2008 RHP/OF with a 5'11'', 160 lb. frame from Rancho Santa Margarita CA, who attends Santa Margarita HS. He has a average build, with sloped shoulders and a broad frame that has room to fill out. Jones looked bigger than his listed 160 lbs. Jones is a good college pitching prospect. He has an easy arm action, with good arm speed. He stays over the rubber well and has a repeatable on-line delivery, that allows him to get out to plus frontside extension. Jones has good pitchability and has a fastball (83-85 mph) that has movement on both sides of the plate. He can ride it hard on the hands of right-hand hitters and sometimes it is bore action that can break wood bats. He throws his change-up (70-71) with plus hand speed and demonstrated good feel of the baseball. His curveball (70-71) is a usable third pitch. Offensively Jones has a rotational approach and when his timing is good, he can bang a ball. His future is on the mound and it should be a good future.
