Derek Ott is a 2005 right handed pitcher/infielder from Elk Run Heights, Iowa, with a lean and athletic 6'2", 170 lb. frame. Ott throws from a 3/4 to high 3/4 arm slot with above average arm speed. His fastball topped out at 84 mph, and was consistently 82-84 mph. Ott also threw a curveball between 72-74 mph with good break from an 11 to 5 angle. His body is very projectable and it is easy to see him throwing with more velocity in the future. Defensively he showed good footwork with nice hands, and solid arm strength. He hits with a rotational type swing and showed some pop with a slight loft in his swing. He made consistent contact in the games going 4-7 with a solid double to left center field. Ott also has good first step quickness, and plays the game hard. Good next level player!
