2006 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Nick Pascente is a 2007 MIF with a 6'0'', 155 lb. frame from Johnsburg IL, who attends Johnsburg HS. He has a slender frame and developing strength Pascente doesn't have traditional and fundamental fielding actions but sure did a good job making plays and getting outs during the showcase games. He has a low release point on all his throws with little back side but has quick sure hands and gets rid of the ball quickly. He has especially good moving through the ball and making charging plays. His arm strength velo from the drills is deceivingly as he gets rid of the ball quickly rather than rear back and throw. Offensively, Pascente hits from a tall open stance with a short stride. He rotates his upper body early and gets the bat head into the zone and keeps it there a long time. He pulled a coupld of balls hard in batting practice. Pascente showed he could handle the bat head and even had a nice hit and run. More strength will give him more bat speed.
