2006 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Austin Benda is a 2007 MIF/OF from Princess Anne HS in Virginia Beach, VA with a 5'11", 175 lb. frame. Austin has an athletic build with room to fill out. At the plate Austin hits from a very bent knee stance and looks to turn on the inside pitch. He uses quick hands and good bat speed to drive the ball, but sometimes has trouble extending to the outside edge of the plate. In the field Austin has smooth fielding actions and charges the ball well. He has a quick release with good range and best projects as a second baseman. Austin should attract the attention of many mid-level colleges.
