Bryce Ortega is a 2007 MIF/3B with a 5'10'', 155 lb. frame from Palos Verdes, CA, who attends Palos Verdes HS. Medium frame with athleticism and good speed. Ortega ran a 6.84-sixty and showed quick actions on the bases and in the field. Defensively he has good actions with nice footwork and soft hands. He has arm strength (85 mph) across the infield with good accuracy. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from an open stance with a good line drive swing plane. Ortega has good bat speed through the hitting zone and hits to all fields. He is a patient hitter with good strike zone awareness and battles each at bat. He keeps his head down on the ball and takes an aggressive swing on balls in the zone. He makes excellent contact, and stays in well on off-speed pitches. Great upside to his overall game. He is also an excellent student.
