Ben Sarno is a 2007 UT/C/SS/2B/OF with a 5'9'', 155 lb. frame from San Diego, CA, who attends University City HS. Sarno has a medium frame with good athleticism. He is a true utility player playing all over the field and playing ever position well. He has arm strength and accuracy from every position and showed good footwork behind the plate and popped a 1.97. He is quick and athletic with good actions and moves well. It would be interesting to see how well he could get at focusing on just one position, but he does it all well. At the plate he hits from a very open stance with good bat speed. Sarno has a line drive swing plane, and gets excellent weight transfer. He makes solid contact with gap to gap power. He has nice hands at the plate and should hit for a high average at the next level. Sarno plays with great enthusiasm and hustle, and is a sparkplug type player. He is fun to watch, and is an excellent student as well.
