Trevor Matern is a 2008 SS/2B/3B with a 6'3'', 175 lb. frame from Stevenson Ranch, CA, who attends Hart HS. Matern has a good frame at 6'3"-175, and he is very projectable. Defensively he has quick feet in the middle of the diamond that helps him get in the proper fielding position. He moves well showing range as well. Matern also has soft hands with a solid back hand. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits using a step back load. He has a compact swing that is short to the ball. Matern keeps his hands inside the ball showing the ability to hit to all fields. He centers the ball consistently making him a solid contact hitter. He hit better in games than he did in batting practice hitter higher velocity pitchers well. He hit a single up the middle off a 91 mph Gerrit Cole fastball, the event's top pitcher. He has upside to his game, and he is an outstanding student as well.
