Clarke Palmer is a 2007 C/OF from Wando HS, residing in Mt. Pleasant, SC, with a 5'8" 175 lb. frame. Palmer has a compact build with some present day strength. It is a durable catcher's build. A right handed hitter, Palmer's hand path shows promise. He hits and plays with energy and generally gets to the ball early on offense. He appeared to be nervous in the box and just couldn't quite find his rhythm. Palmer is competitive enough as a hitter to contribute at some level. On defense he showed an efficient and consistent exchange, if not a very quick one. Palmer took his time as a thrower, seemingly to ensure his accuracy, which worked. His pop times ranged from 2.15-2.25. Not much stands out very loudly about Palmer's game right now, but as an energetic and hard working catcher, he is likely to develop the more he plays the game against a higher level of competition, perhaps at the JC level.
