Brian Bercaw is a 2005 right handed pitcher/infielder from a small 1A school in Bradenton, Florida, with a 6'1", 205 lb. frame. We understand that he suffered an arm injury earlier in his high school career and hasn’t fully recovered. Bercaw threw 70 mph from the mound in Fort Myers from a low ¾ release point and also threw a 55 mph curveball with a big break. He did a good job of mixing his pitches and locations around and trying to pitch. Bercaw showed some strength with the bat in batting practice. A switch hitter, he jumps out on his front side early, but has the hand strength to get the wood bat moving. He probably hits very well at the high school level from what we saw. He also has good hands and a feel for the game. Brian is a good student.
