Max Mehlbaum is a 2016 LHP/OF with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Sherman Oaks, CA who attends William Howard Taft. Long thin frame with room to fill. Pitches from a high three quarters arm slot with a sharp downhill plane and a fast paced delivery. Pitches aggressively and creates deception with a lot of moving parts, managed to throw a lot of strikes and showed ability to repeat an ambitious delivery for a young pitcher, which is a positive sign for future development. 1-7 break on curveball, pitch shows potential for improved spin rate and bite with better extension out front on the pitch, flashed rare low 70s changeup as well. Loose hands at the plate with a long swing and solid bat speed, pull approach, arm stands out in the OF as well. Very good student. Named to the Sunshine West Top Prospect Team.
