2005 South Top Prospect Showcase
Koller is a 6-3, 190 lb senior right handed pitcher from Houston with very good natural arm strength and good physical maturity. He has a very slow and deliberate delivery with a long, flat arm stroke in back and opens up very early in his movement to the plate. Koller's fastball touched 88 mph early in his outing and he settled in mostly at 83-85 mph with some running action when he got down in the strike zone. Koller's best secondary pitch was a 79 mph slider that was sharp and late at times and is a good pitch for him. His 68 mph curveball didn't have the same type of spin and sharpness to it and Koller's long arm action might not be suited for this pitch. He also threw a 78 mph change up. Overall, Koller has raw pitching skills but unmistakable arm strength and a sharp breaking ball. He is an outstanding student with his eye on some of the top academic schools in the country.
