Cory Oakley is a 2007 RHP/IF with a 6'0'', 200 lb. frame from San Diego, CA, who attends Rancho Bernardo HS. Oakley has broad shoulders with present strength. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a long arm circle on the back side. Oakley has good arm action with looseness, and he uses a high leg kick with good balance. He gets life on his fastball that topped out 81 mph while working in the 76-81 mph range. Oakley has confidence in his curveball with good break at 67 mph. Oakley also mixes in a 71 mph changeup. He is not afraid to pitch inside, and he mixed all three pitches well throwing them all for strikes. At the plate he hits from an open stance and closes off well at contact. He has a line drive swing plane and makes solid contact.
