Hunter Parkinson is a 2014 LHP/1B with a 6-2 200 lb. frame from Aptos, CA who attends Soquel HS. Strong athletic build, fairly mature look. Over the top arm slot, big lean back in delivery, hides the ball well in back, has some deception. Mid 80's fastball, topped out at 87 mph, mostly straight, has to pitch down in zone consistently with fastball. Low 70's curveball, good downer spin and shape when on top at release, gets on side at times. Good arm speed on change but a bit too firm at times. Shows his athleticism defensively at first base. Right handed hitter, busy hand load with low hand start, tends to hit under the ball, has some strength in his swing, mid field contact. Good student, verbal commitment to San Diego.
