Kengo Kawahara is a 2014 OF/LHP with a 5-8 145 lb. frame from Ridgewood, NJ who attends Ridgewood High School. Has an athletic frame with room to add strength. In the outfield he showed solid actions with a good hop and direction while being fluid and making good throws. During BP, he displayed solid hitting mechanics with a short fluid stroke and a line drive swing plane. On the mound, he had a smooth balanced delivery with good mechanics and throws easy from an extended 3/4 release. Kawahara likes to work in and out with his fastball that had cut action, and complemented it well with his slow developing CB that kept hitters off balance. He is also a good student.
