2003 South Top Prospect Showcase
Sawyer is a 6 foot Left-hander who showed he can pitch effectively without great velocity. He has a good build, his 6 foot frame projects to gain more size and strength. His fastball was thrown on the corners and his off-speed stuff was working. He showed a good mix of speeds and used a 67 mph curve with a 69 mph change effectively. He came from a three quarter arm slot. We noticed that he stepped across his body a little bit on his delivery and could improve his velocity right away with a small adjustment there. Either way, Sawyer can pitch and there is a place for him in College.
