Blake Pohlman is a 2006 3B with a 5'10'', 185 lb. frame from Panama City, Florida, who attends Arnold High School. He has a presently strong body. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with a slight uppercut swing. He hits from a wide base with no stride, and looks to drive the ball to all parts of the field. Pohlman has very good bat speed through the hitting zone with nice hand strength. There is power and strength in his swing, and he gets good leverage at the point of contact. He really likes the ball on the inner half of the plate and turns on that pitch well. Pohlman has projectable power that should allow him to be a middle of the order run producer at the next level. Defensively he is a little mechanical at the hot corner. He also pitched at the event, and his fastball topped out at 77 mph. He also mixed in a 61 mph curveball. Pohlman has very good upside at the plate, and is an excellent student as well.
