Vitale is a slick fielding 6-1, 170 lb middle infielder from Florida. He has tall, angular body that should add some strength in the future. Vitale moves very smoothly on defense and has soft sure hands and easy actions. He threw 81 mph during infield workouts from a high release point and made several very strong throws in the showcase games. The added strength that Vitale should add will help him offensively. He has a short, compact inside out swing right now and will hit the ball where it’s pitched. It’s a good swing fundamentally but Vitale just isn’t strong enough to drive the ball hard yet consistently. His glove at a premium position should carry him for now. Vitale also threw a couple of innings in relief, showing very sound pitching mechanics and a quick arm while throwing 76-79 on his fastball with a 60-63 mph curveball. Vitale is an excellent student, also.
