Zak Holcomb is a 2011 1B/RHP with a 6-5 210 lb. frame from Bellevue, WA who attends Newport HS. Big strong physical build with room to get stronger. Wide hitting base, preloads hands low, long swing, opposite field contact, limited use of lower half, does not use strength in swing due to mechanics. Nice fielding actions at first base, shows his athleticism. Better pitching prospect at this look. Over the top release point, extended arm in back, fastball to 84 mph, flashes hard and tight spin on 74 mph downer curveball, raw mechanics but more velocity there and can spin the ball. Worth a chance on the mound. Very good student.
