Marshall is a catcher - second baseman that can get the ball to second base in a hurry. He is not a strong-armed type but rather a quick transfer and quick-footed catcher who can get the ball out of his glove and in the air in a flash. He had just 72 mph velocity on his throw to 2B but had pop times under 2 seconds. Our best times on him were 1.93 and 1.95 which are both excellent. With the bat he showed a middle of the field preference in BP and had to slow his bat down to get the ball there. We saw a little better bat-speed in the games as he went after the fastballs with a quicker swing. His defensive game showed as his best tool as he made key blocks and non-routine plays defensively. A polished defensive catcher is an asset that more teams are in search of. Good student.
