2005 Unsigned Seniors Showcase
Barkley is a 5-10, 160 lb catcher from Florida with a slender body and medium athletic frame. Barkley performed well in the workout portion of the showcase, throwing 2.06 in catching drills with a very solid 77 mph velocity. He has good arm strength. Barkley also ran well for a catcher in the 60 at 7.23 on a slow track. At the plate Barkley has a big, aggressive swing and hits the ball to all fields. His swing is a bit long for the wood bat but should work well with aluminum. More strength will help his raw bat speed. Barkley is a good student. He is athletic and his best years are ahead of him.
