Ence is a player that showed us he can do everything well and it will be hard to determine what his best position will be. Listed as a primary pitcher, this left-hander threw very well with 80-82 mph velocity on the fastball and mixed it in with 2 very good off-speed pitches in a curveball and a change-up. He appeared to use the fastball only to set up his other pitches and it worked. He is a smart pitcher who throws strikes and at 6 feet and 160 pounds there is more in him. In fact, we saw him flick the ball at 83 mph from the outfield. As a position player he ran a 6.96 and looked comfortable out there. At the plate he showed his best bat-speed in BP and we liked his left-handed swing as a little more tension free. He had some weak swings in the game but when he adds another 10-15 pounds over the next year or so it could give him just the boost he needs to handle a wood bat. Watch him! Good student.
