2007 World Showcase
Michael Burgess is a 2007 OF/P with a 5'11'', 190 lb. frame from Tampa FL, who attends Hillsborough HS. He's looking strong and in very good shape and ready for a big spring. Burgess put his very underrated defensive skills on display during drills, showing advanced fundamentals, a quick release and a plus big league arm with accuracy. Taking the extra base when Burgess is in right field will not be an option. We've always been impressed by how well Burgess does the small things like running the bases and taking good routes in the outfield. At the plate, Burgess showed the excellent raw bat speed and power he is known for. He has trouble occasionally in BP and against slower pitching staying back on the ball and reigning in his quickness and aggressiveness, but when it comes together the ball just explodes off his bat.
