2004 National Underclass Dec 28-30
Linares is a very slender junior right handed pitcher from Miami. He has a long arm action and a ¾’s release point. For a pitcher with long limbs and a long arm stroke, Linares has a very short stride and might consider lengthening it to get better extension out front on all his pitches. Linares’ fastball was 75-77 mph with some arm side run. His curveball was 58 mph and he frequently dropped his hand underneath it. He also threw some 65-67 mph change ups that had some fade to them. Linares didn’t participate in the skills workouts or hit during the game he pitched, but took a very nice batting practice and looked like he had some ability as a hitter. Linares is an outstanding student.
