Timothy Alvarez is a 2009 RHP with a 6'1'', 200 lb. frame from Vista, CA, who attends Vista HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team as a 2009 graduate. Alvarez has present strength in his body. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a short arm circle on the back side. He has a quick arm with some effort, and he stays balanced through his delivery. Alvarez goes right at the hitters with a fastball that topped out at 83 mph, while working from 78-83 mph. With his arm speed, you can project that he will throw with more velocity in the future. He can spin is breaking ball at 64 mph, and he also mixes in a 73 mph change-up. He struck out 6 in his 4 innings of work. Alvarez has upside on the mound. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from an upright stance. There is strength in his swing, and he likes the ball on the inner half. Alvarez is a good student as well.
