Jeffrey Ortega is a 2012 C/1B with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Mission Viejo, CA who attends Capistrano Valley. An interesting prospect as a strong bodied left handed hitting Catcher, Ortega's best tool is his arm. With good arm action and accurate throws, his above average arm strength plays even stronger. Ortega also showed solid receiving skills and is a solid defensive Catcher who will continue to improve as he adds polish to his game. At the plate he showed a good short swing path hitting from a crouched stance with good use of his lower half and showed good contact skills. Excellent student. Named to Top Prospect Team.
