Kyle Prater is a 2008 OF/P/1B with a 6'2'', 210 lb. frame from Kerrville, TX who attends Tivy. Prater has a very solid build with good present strength throughout. He's a 7.04 runner and moves very well for such a strong kid. He has a quick first step and has good speed underway. At the plate he is a very interesting player to watch, with plus bat speed and a good approach at the plate. He stays within himself and has a very controlled swing with pop. His hands work to the inner half of the plate, and he is a rotational hitter from a wide base. He does well staying short and compact to the ball and makes hard contact to all fields, including a HR to LCF during games. Defensively, his feet work and his throws are online with carry. He has good arm strength, and threw with a top velocity at 86 mph from the outfield, and 83 mph across the infield. On the mound he works from a low 3/4 arm slot, and has good whipping action to his arm. His fastball was up to 84 mph, and threw with consistent velocity, and also featured an 11-5 curveball that is sharp at times. His fastball also has some natural cut to it. Kyle is also a very good student.
