Schultz is a 5-10 left handed hitting junior first baseman from Indiana. He has good present strength and probably get stronger in the future. Schultz has a very good approach at the plate and we were impressed with him as a hitter. He has a leg lift trigger with good coil and is balanced and soft getting to his front side. Schultz had a very high percentage of hard contacts in both batting practice and in games and looked like he was right on every pitch. A little more extension out front might give Schultz some more power but he has the strength and lift in his swing to reach the gaps right now. His swing, strength and hitting skills translate well to the next level. Defensively, Schultz showed playable arm strength and good footwork around the first base bag. He is an excellent student, too.
