2007 Atlantic Coast Underclass Showcase
Trey McCraw III is a 2008 C with a 5'5'', 150 lb. frame from Winston-Salem, NC who attends Parkland HS. He is short but solidly built with some strength. If Perfect Game gave a "Hustle/Gamer" award at its showcases, McCraw would get one for this event. He loves to play and plays all over the field. His best position is catcher and his game actions at second base were pretty good. At catcher, McCraw has quick actions and is very active blocking pitches. He is sometimes too anxious to drop down to block and will box low pitches. He gets rid of the ball quickly and shows quick, flexible actions. Offensively, McCraw has some strength which helps him create some bat speed and occasional pull power from a short swing. He's a contact type hitter who is going to put the bat on the ball. Coaches will enjoy having McCraw on their team. He was named to the Showcase Top Prospect Team.
