2004 National Open Top Prospect Showcase
Michael Scanio is a 2005 right handed pitcher from Lutz, Florida, with a lean 6'0", 170 lb. frame. He throws from somewhat of a drop and drive delivery with some effort through release. It looks like Scanio does a good job of hiding the ball, and his effort provides some deception as hitters weren’t getting good swings on pitches. Scanio’s fastball was 77-79 mph. His best pitch was a 65-67 mph curveball that had some good 12/6 downer action. He also threw a couple of 71 mph change ups. He knows what he's doing on the mound and he commands all his pitches. Scanio is a very good student as well.
