Jake Crain is a 2014 LHP/1B/OF with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Pearland, TX who attends Pearland HS. Thick build, good present strength. Upper half delivery, 3/4's arm slot, can get more power from strong lower half, generates velocity with arm strength rather than whole body. Low 80's fastball, topped out at 84 mph, good consistent run and sink when down. Slider best off speed pitch, gets good depth at times and tight spin, curveball is more of a get me over type pitch for early in counts, works around the zone and competes. Right handed hitter, back side hitter, leans back with an upper cut swing plane, good loose extension out front, power approach, shows strength at contact and gets the ball into the air. Tools to keep improving with adjustments. Very good student.
