2005 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Andy Gaddis is a 6-0, 160 lb senior right handed pitcher from South Dakota. He throws from a mid 3/4's release point with a long buggy whip arm action and a pause at the top of his delivery that adds some deception to the hitter's timing. Gaddis lands with a very hard spin off towards the first base side on release that cuts off his arm extension. His fastball was 72-74 mph. Gaddis also threw a 64 mph curveball with a wide sweeping break. Gaddis also played some outfield at the showcase, showing 75 mph arm strength during drills. He has a short, downward stroke at the plate and did a good job of making solid up the middle contact during the games. Gaddis is a solid student.
