Logan Smith is a 2008 C/P/1B with a 6'0'', 210 lb. frame from Ripon CA, who attends Ripon HS. He has a strong, physical build on a sturdy, large frame. Smith has some innate hitting abilities. When he sticks with trusting his hitting tools, he is a much better hitter. He is strong and does possess some present day power, particularly to the pullside. His swing is a bit big, but simple and it happens pretty easily. Defensively Smith showed that he has strong hands that can serve him well behind the plate. He blocked balls in the dirt well and his pop times were consistent, if not quick. He is patient and conservative with his footwork but looks like he is developing some feel for the position. Overall, his defensive skill set is coachable. He is an outstanding student and shows some promise as an offensive catcher.
