Callahan Deporter is a 2008 C/RHP/OF from Orion, Illinois, with an athletic 5'10", 160 lb. frame and sloped shoulders. Deporter had good actions behind the plate and in the outfield. He has quick feet behind the plate with solid pop times, including a 2.20 during a showcase game. Deporter also used his foot speed to move well laterally blocking balls. He has good arm strength with solid carry and his throws are accurate. He has good bat speed from a high hand set with a line drive swing plane. Deporter centers the ball well using good bat control, and is a solid hitter. His game quickness was much better than his 60 time might suggest. He pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a clean and easy arm, and he has nice mechanics. He has a higher leg kick, and could slow down his delivery. His fastball topped out at 75 mph, and he was not afraid to work inside. Deporter mixed in a slow overhand curveball at 61 mph with a big break. He is a solid two way prospect with a future behind the plate. He is also an excellent student.
