Matthew Virts is a 2017 RHP/1B with a 6-1 205 lb. frame from Friendswood, TX who attends Friendswood HS. Big young build, strong for his age. Balanced delivery with solid overall mechanics, medium length arm circle with high 3/4's arm slot. Mid-70's fastball, will get good 2-seam running life at times, soft curveball with 12/6 downer shape. 7.17 runner, nice speed for his size and age, can likely play other positions than pitcher/first base. Right handed hitter, upper half rotational swing with some uppercut and lift, has strength in his swing and can reach the gaps, has some potential with the bat as he matures, follow both ways. Good student.
