Chase Shugart is a 2015 RHP/IF with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Bridge City, TX who attends Bridge City HS. Medium athletic build, some present strength with more to come. Quality two way prospect, might be a better position prospect long-term. Balanced delivery on the mound, stays over his back side well, clean delivery and release, long loose arm action, slow paced even tempo. Mid 80's fastball, topped out at 87 mph, mostly straight but with good downhill angle. Curveball shows tight spin with good power and a sharp 11/5 bite and shape, throws strikes. 7.24 runner, strong arm, hands work well in the infield, stays balanced with athletic actions, profiles at third base, also plays the outfield with similar athleticism and arm strength. Left handed hitter, easy loose swing, confident approach with lots of present bat speed, hits from an exaggerated open stance but closes well, good hand path to the ball, has lift in his swing, hard pull contact. Hitting potential is his top present tool.
