Riley Waters is a 2009 outfielder/right handed pitcher from Albia, Iowa, with an athletic and lean 6'0", 155 lb. frame. Waters showed solid defensive actions in the outfield with a slow release on his throws. His best throws were to the plate with carry. He hits from an upright stance with good bat speed. Waters uses a line drive swing plane and made solid contact. His power is limited because he doesn't use his lower half enough in his swing. On the mound, he pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot with a slow and deliberate delivery. His fastball topped out at 72 mph, and he mixed in a 10 to 4 curveball at 59 mph. Waters could add velocity by extending and finishing his pitches better. Waters has a good frame, and has the athleticism to continue to improve his game.
