Jonathan Perea is a 2007 2B with a 5'9'', 165 lb. frame from Miami FL, who attends Christopher Columbus HS. He has a medium frame with some lower half strength. Perea ran the 60 in 7.94 and threw 74 mph during infield drills. He showed a smooth glove and solid actions on routine plays at second base but will have to improve his quickness and range to play effectively at the next level. Perea hits from a spread stance with negative stride to start his swing, which takes his lower half strength out of play for the most part. Perea takes an aggressive swing and attacks the ball well. He has some pop on mistake pitches up in the zone and made solid contact frequently. He can improve his overall bat speed and effectiveness with better direction through the ball. Perea is also a good student.
